Everything Coming to Prime Video in November Everything Coming to Netflix in November Running TV Watch List. It was a storytelling mess. The "Murder House" and "Coven" parts, though, were total bright spots for longtime fans.
Dylan McDermott 's crack about Ben Harmon's cry-masturbating — "the tearjerker" — still makes me laugh. Dramatic highs: The midseason twist of taking everyone involved in the Roanoke documentary and putting them back in the nightmare was an incredibly clever twist -- and it still could have flopped, but AHS pulled it off really well.
The Blair Witch comparisons are inevitable, but there's a reason that movie is so scary — the found footage style can convey an atmosphere and tension that regular filming cannot duplicate.
Unfortunately, the season should have been one episode shorter. The epilogue finale was kind of a waste of time. That is one thing AHS is guilty of in nearly every season — not knowing how to properly wrap things up.
Dramatic highs: The performances of Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters were impeccable. Paulson is always impeccable on the show and "Cult" was no different, as she went from devastated "snowflake" on election night to terrorized woman being crazy to in-control puppetmaster and then possibly a cult leader herself.
And Peters Dramatic lows: The Valerie Solanas episode was a weird diversion. Still, I thought "Cult" had the right amount of terror, humor, and commentary.
It held up a mirror to the country sometimes eerily coinciding with real-life events , and props must be given to doing so so soon after the election.
That is a huge risk on the part of Ryan Murphy and Co. This season is surely polarizing, first because it was so political, but also because it was such a departure from what passes for normal for AHS.
But I really liked it, and I think it was the show's strongest season since "Asylum. Dramatic highs: Um, nearly all of it?
That was amazing. Some people will balk at this being in the No. I just have such affection for the original season that I can't bump this one up, even if it is an excellent offering of AHS.
It let Jessica Lange and Sarah Paulson absolutely sing in their respective roles, and it may be the season that is the absolute scariest -- jump scares, gore scares, and an overriding atmospheric tension and feeling of dread.
As a result, as hot as any of the hottest moments are -- they are often twisted or disturbing. Anything that can fit into conventional attraction will be usurped later on by a horrific twist or even a turnaround within that very scene.
Murphy's horror, more often than not, comes from eliciting arousal in moments or scenes that you'd really rather you didn't.
His horror draws you in with beautiful women and incredible set pieces only to reveal a hidden part of yourself that maybe you didn't want to face.
He makes the audience complicit in what's happening onscreen and it's one of the reasons people keep coming back for more.
It should go without saying that some of these entries may be considered spoilers. While none of them really reveal huge plot twists, and will likely not ruin your experience - there is nonetheless a very spoiler sensitive society so consider yourself warned.
All the way back to the innocent days of season one, when we still had no idea how far down this path we would be taken - there was Moira the Maid.
Unaware that she is a spirit, the Harmon family hire her - and the games begin. Moira appears to women as her true form, an elderly one-eyed crone, but to men, she is a very hot red-headed nurse who acts out their every fantasy.
Pulsatingly sexual, Moira drives a wedge between man and wife and acts to create conflict and anxiety within the family more and more. A vengeful spirit who wants to take revenge on men who she perceives as cheaters and liars, she does everything she can to entice Ben.
In the first two seasons, the hottest moments were still not THAT disturbing. The scene plays out as an attack on both the Asylum and institutional religion and is clearly meant to be a scene of all-out blasphemy.
For religious types, perhaps, the scene has a little more impact in terms of offending sensibilities, but most of us get the idea. The scene is pretty hot, especially when Sister Mary reveals her thigh highs and confusingly looks as though she's going to seduce the cross on the wall before fighting back by throwing the one around her neck on it.
You can't do a season about an Asylum without a nymphomaniac! Invoking, at least tangentially, a classic scene in Shock Corridor - a kind of journalistic exploitation film from the s where the journalist is attacked by a pack of Nymphos, Ryan Murphy created Shelley the Nympho.
Played by Chloe Sevigny , who is among our favourite alternative actresses, she embodies the role with nuance and depth.
While her story convergences with tragedy and lust, as her actions would hardly be pathologized if she were a man - it's hard to really pin down the best moment since so much of it is entranced in sadness.
I have a cucumber in my room but not because I was hungry. We're already back on Moira, the sexy vengeful housekeeper uses a sex swing to seduce a real-estate tycoon.
While the scene itself is pretty hot though it ends pretty disastrously for her intended victim , thought is more conceptually hot than it is in reality.
In an interview discussing the difficulty in doing the scene, actress Alexandra Breckenridge said to website Rakkle, "The sex swing was the worst!
By the way, that swing is the most uncomfortable thing ever! In a pretty shocking turn of events, there is actually a sweet scene of lovemaking on American Horror Story.

Ben and Vivien try to rekindle their relationship while Violet, suffering from depression, finds comfort in Tate Evan Peters , one of Ben's patients.
The family soon discovers that the home is haunted by the ghosts of anyone who has ever died on the property, including its creators Charles Matt Ross and Nora Montgomery Lily Rabe ; and their deformed son Thaddeus Ben Woolf who is sometimes referred to as the 'Infantata'.

Arthur Arden James Cromwell , the latter of whom routinely conducts scientific operations on patients.
Briarcliff's inhabitants are routinely subject to supernatural and scientific influences, including demonic possession and extraterrestrial abduction.

Those who share this genetic affliction are being subjected to violent attacks from outside forces, such as voodoo practitioners.

Other members of her troupe include "Lobster Boy" Jimmy Darling Evan Peters , who dreams of living a normal life, and his mother Ethel Kathy Bates , a bearded lady who acts as Elsa's second-in-command by maintaining law and order under the tent.

To drum up business and save her troupe once and for all, Elsa also recruits conjoined twin sisters Bette and Dot Tattler Sarah Paulson to perform for her show.
In a time when the era of television is beginning to reign high above sideshow acts, these individuals must overcome those who persecute them based on their looks.
However, as the season unfolds, it is revealed that multiple dark entities have taken up residence in Jupiter, with all of their eyes being set on the freaks.
The wealthy and spoiled Dandy Mott Finn Wittrock , enabled by his doting mother Gloria Frances Conroy , develops an unhealthy obsession with the freaks, particularly Bette and Dot.
Perhaps the most dangerous of them all is a mysterious, deformed killer clown, known only as Twisty John Carroll Lynch , who wreaks havoc on Jupiter and appears to be targeting freaks and townspeople alike.
Set in , the season follows the strange and dangerous happenings that seem to center around the retro Hotel Cortez in downtown Los Angeles, California , initially built as a secret torture chamber to fulfill the violent desires of founder James Patrick March Evan Peters.

He has become estranged from his wife Alex Chloe Sevigny , who suffers from depression, and his daughter Scarlett Shree Crooks , after the disappearance of their son Holden Lennon Henry five years earlier.
The hotel is led by March's fashionista widow Elizabeth Johnson Lady Gaga , also known as the Countess —who was mutated into a vampire by her former lovers, actor Rudolph Valentino Finn Wittrock and his wife Natacha Rambova Alexandra Daddario —and her current lover Donovan Matt Bomer.
The hotel's tireless staff includes the surly front desk manager Iris Kathy Bates , Donovan's mother, and her best friend, the transgender bartender Liz Taylor Denis O'Hare , both of whom hesitantly cater to Elizabeth and her vampiric children, one out of a desire to remain close to her son and the other out of a sense of loyalty.

As Ally attempts to re-adjust to regular life despite her growing anxiety and paranoia, she becomes terrorized by a group of masked assailants, donned in clown attire, who are only present when she is alone, leaving those around her to wonder if she was truly attacked, or if they were merely hallucinations.
Ally's new eccentric neighbors Harrison Billy Eichner and Meadow Wilton Leslie Grossman move in next door, while news reporter Beverly Hope Adina Porter descends upon every crime scene to report the murders.
