BotW introduces the open world in a space big enough to understand the mechanics and introduce the gameplay, but captivating enough to never want to put the game down.
The amount of gameplay in this game is truly up to the gamer. This will be something I hope games adapt going further. The game closest to that is GTAV which gives you a massive sandbox of destruction, but given its high fidelity and elaborate mechanics you are still limited.
The simplicity of Zelda BotW makes its open world so rewarding and reminds us that games do not have to have numerous systems to be fun.
